Dr. Timothy K. Fisher, DPM
Managing Director/Podiatric Physician:
Dr. Fisher is board certified by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry and board qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is also a certified physician in wound care.
He completed his podiatric medical education at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. Following graduation, he completed a comprehensive medical and surgical residency at the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Miami, FL.
During residency he developed an interest in treating those with diabetes and helping to treat and prevent the unfortunate foot complications that are often associated with the disease. This interest lead to his appointment as Clinical Instructor at the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine within the Vascular Surgery department and its associated Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA). While at SALSA, he was instrumental in reducing the complication and amputation rate of diabetic patients seen at the University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ.
Knowing that Diabetes and foot related issues are not just a problem here in the USA, he relocated to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where, at the time, the UAE had the second highest incidence of Diabetes in the world.
During his few years in the UAE, he established the first dedicated diabetic foot clinic within the Ministry of Health in the UAE and was instrumental in spreading awareness of the complications of the disease to the population. He also created and directed the first diabetic limb salvage center in the Middle East, The American Diabetic Limb Salvage Institute. Along with his vascular surgeon partner, they were able to provide alternatives to amputation to many within the UAE and the entire GCC.
He has authored and co-authored numerous articles and book chapters on treatment and prevention of diabetic foot complications. He is now focusing on another population that often suffers from both diabetic and routine foot issues: residents of Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities. While providing on-site podiatry care and eliminating the need for these residents to be transported to their appointments, most foot ailments will be easily treated and prevented.
